With another day of oppressive heat and thick-as-soup smog here in the 'jing, I found this photo of us enjoying a gorgeous day in late March. Ritan Park is a favorite Beijing spot for us, even when Gabriela was just a few weeks old in winter 2005 and we were scolded by strangers every 5 minutes for bringing a small baby out into the cold. "It's OK," we'd say, in our limited Chinese. "She's half Finnish."
