We take all our pictures with a point and shoot Pentax Optio WSi, which we've owned for a few years, and isn't nearly as small, fancy, or cool as all the new $250 digital cameras on the market today. It took a couple of YEARS for us to realize that it says "WATERPROOF" on the casing, and that it actually takes decent underwater pictures and video. Fun!
ps. We bought the previous version of the Pentax Optio almost purely because it could fit in an Altoids tin. I sleep well at night knowing that I am a consumer electronics product manager's worst nightmare.
